biomek 2000 communication problem

Hi. I am a bioengineering masters student in the University of Toledo. We have a Biomek 2000 Laboratory automation workstation in our High throughput screening lab here. However I am not able to establish communication of this workstation with the controlling software Bioworks/Sami. The workstation is turning on, but then the bridge does not come to the intial position. I have tried testing different cords from the computer to the biomek. Also I have tried reloading the software completely in the computer, yet I am not able to diagnose the problem. The Bioworks software is version 1.4a. Can someone please suggest me an approach which I can try to get this thing running.
