Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research InstituteTitle: Research Scientist Department: Discovery Technologies Location: Hopewell, NJ Hiring Manager: James Myslik Job Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on electromechanical, operational and application support for all Discovery Technologies laboratory automation systems installed at BMS's Hopewell, NJ site.
- Identify, design and develop laboratory automation that implements critical-path workflows for client organizations in Hopewell Drug Discovery and Pre-Clinical Optimization.
- Manage or coordinate support as needed from BMS Facilities and external laboratory instrumentation vendors.
- Keep current with the latest products and methodologies with an eye towards applying new technologies to the needs of our scientific partners at Hopewell.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or an aligned field and
3-4 years experience developing and supporting laboratory automation and instrumentation in an industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience configuring, programming and troubleshooting articulated robotic arms and scheduling systems (preferably Thermo CRS Polara) and liquid handling systems (Tecan, Velocity11, CyBio, Apogent / Matrix).
- Strong computer skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with biologists and chemists. Those with previous work experience as an HTS biologist, combi-chemist, or HT analytical chemist will be preferred.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Computer programming experience as it relates to laboratory instrument control (Visual Basic, C/C++, LabView, Python, etc.)
- Experience with computer aided design tools
- Experience using relational databases (Oracle, MS Access) and SQL.
