Hiring Manager: Peter Grandsard

Requirements:
?A Ph.D. or Masters degree in the Natural or Physical Sciences, Bio- or Chemical Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent.
?Eight or more years of relevant experience in the development and integration of automated systems for the biopharmaceutical industry.
?Several years of experience in managing technologists and automation specialists, with a desire and ability to remain active in the lab.
?Excellent communication skills. Eagerness and ability to work in a team-based environment.

Job Summary:
This individual will be a principal engineer or scientist supporting Amgen R&D; facility in Cambridge, MA, and located full-time at that site. Responsibilities include the automation of R&D; processes, project management, and leadership of the Research & Automation Technologies function in Amgen Cambridge, including the hiring and coaching of engineers and scientists. Specific responsibilities involve:
?The implementation of sample bank automation and instrumentation, and the collaboration with vendors to maintain these systems
?The continued automation of bio-chemical, cellular, and compound profiling assays
?Development of new equipment and software aiding in the above-mentioned processes
?Supervision of automation experts or technologists

Project management of collaborations with local university groups may be added to this list of responsibilities.
