Summary: Manages all aspects of a remote regional service staff, customer issue management, and regional budget. Remote field service engineers provide diagnosis and service on Zymark manufactured laboratory automation equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Responsible for hiring, coaching and mentoring field engineers in the areas of customer relations in order to provide a high level of professionalism for our customers.

 Assist in defining the training needs for service engineers.

 Responsible for budget forecasting and managing the region within budget.

 Responsible for managing product installations, validations, billable services, warranty services and contracted services in the region. Supports other regions and international locations as required.

 Responsible for service revenue growth within the region.

 Responsible for ensuring that direct reports are ISO 9000 trained.

 Travel with direct reports and sales representatives to accounts throughout the region.

 Responsible for managing remote inventory locations.

 Monitors and reviews field service metrics and provide feedback for quality improvement.

 Manages field service personnel scheduling.

 Directly involved with customers regarding service plan options, service contract negotiations, product installations and basic customer needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises 8-10 employees in Field Service. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education and/or Experience:
The candidate must possess at least a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a technical field, with 5-10 years of management experience. The ideal candidate would also have experience in the areas of medical or biopharmaceutical instrumentation and managing a remote staff. Position involves up to 25% travel.

Product Support Supervisor
Responsible for QC, calibration, service and maintenance of in-house and field automated instrumentation. Communicated with manufacturing and OEM vendors. Organized all purchase orders and approved invoices for processing. Received and filed field service reports, maintained the problem history database. Reviewed and updated, SOP, FSE trunk stocks. Maintained parts inventory and shipping /receiving. Responded to customer phone support hotline, dispatched field engineers, and provided telephonic technical support to the field staff. Responsible for the installation and servicing of a wide variety of medical and industrial laboratory instrumentation ranging from sophisticated, high throughput automated instrumentation to centrifuges, microscopes, pipetters, robotics, conveying systems, etc. Performed troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions and coordinated installation and modification of new instruments internally as well as with outside vendors. Performed preventative maintenance procedures/quality control regarding instrumentation.
