Business (Job) Title: Quality Manager - Process Control Systems
Reports To (Directly): Director, Global Quality

I. POSITION PURPOSE - Responsible for the coordination and execution of global activities related to Process Control Systems (PCS) in Operations; Scope of work includes establishing program objectives, managing direct and guiding indirect resources, identifying training needs and coordinating training programs, monitoring the effectiveness of PCS in product performance variability reduction, and adjusting program plans; Lead the Joint Process Control Team (JPCT) and support the execution of CI projects related to the reduction of product/process variability; Support routine and non-routine communications of trend charts and related quality information with customers; Supervisory responsibilities include the Quality Engineers that have responsibility for lab PCS and for training and auditing.

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Control Systems Leadership (80%)
 Lead the development and implementation of statistical Process Control Systems throughout the manufacturing process.
 Lead the JPCT and coordinate the efforts of the Operations group technical personnel to effectively monitor and control critical product and process parameters. Use this information to improve product and process quality.
 Coordinate the use of SPC/SQC data and analysis to facilitate the establishment of best-known process methods throughout all facilities, worldwide (USA, Asia and Europe). Align SPC rule sets and metrics so that site to site comparisons can be used to assess effectiveness.
 Ensure that new products are commercialized in a way that incorporate PCS and process and product variability analysis in the front end of the Phase and Gate process
 Identify and assist in implementing information system improvements that support the data gathering and processing needs of PCS.
 Ensure global alignment of PCS implementation, including rule sets and response plans (lead role)


Customer Support (10%)
 Work closely with technical and Sales/Marketing personnel to understand customer performance targets and utilize PCS data to drive continuous improvement to meet/exceed these goals.
 Evaluate customer communications requirements related to trend charts and ensure that systems are in place to efficiently and effectively provide this information.
 Identify opportunities to proactively communicate PCS CI and results and provide this information to the appropriate Commercial staff.
 Support the customer qualification of new/existing products at new facilities.

Supplier PCS (10%)

 Support the Supplier Quality management group to develop PCS at our suppliers, providing auditing and training support as identified by the Supplier Quality Management group
 Integrate supplier quality information with internal data systems

III. Critical Competencies

 Technical – Strong background with SPC and statistical analysis techniques. Must have a solid understanding of continuous improvement methods, problem solving techniques and customer/supplier management.
 Business/Managerial – Strong supervisory skills; Excellent organizational skills and flexibility for multi-task situations; Good problem solving skills.
 Behavioral – Strong oral and written communications skills, with ability to communicate to personnel at all levels of the organization and with diverse international backgrounds; Strong interpersonal skills.
 Computer – Advanced experience with databases and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems a plus


IV. Education/Experience

 Education – B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent; Advanced degree preferred
 Experience – 10+ years Quality Assurance experience, with 3+ years in a manufacturing environment; 5+ years as supervisor. Experience in the semiconductor, microelectronics or high tech industries is preferred.
