DESCRIPTION: An exciting new San Diego based company focused on Drug Discovery has attracted leading players in the genetics field!! Their key is a revolutionary approach to Ultra-High Throughput Screening System (uHTS) that can identify compounds through a unique way of looking at large quantities of data. They are applying an information-intensive approach to the discovery process. Drawing on novel drug discovery technologies and chemical optimization technologies, their goal is to dramatically improve the success and turnaround time for developing pharmaceutical drugs. Unique algorithms, coupled with an impressive business model, they are selectively adding to their already highly distinguished team. They are hiring experienced software engineers in the Cheminformatics area to help develop tools to analyze and utilize the massive amounts of scientific data their technology is creating.
In this key role, you will use a combination of Java, Perl, SQL, and Oracle databases to develop data visualization applications using tools like SpotFire to accelerate research in several major areas. You will also interact with bench scientists to gather requirements, so a background in Chemistry and/or Informatics will be necessary. QUALIFICATIONS:

?Solid Software Development experience using Java, Perl, SQL, and Oracle databases for Cheminformatics applications.
?PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Informatics or related discipline.
?At least 5 years professional experience with a drug discovery company, preferably working on cancer & metabolic related drugs.
?Experience working with other developers and scientists to analyze scientific data using ultra-high-throughput technologies and other data mining tools.
?Ability to work in a team environment and good written & oral communication skills.

COMPENSATION:

MINIMUM PAY: $65K
MAXIMUM PAY: $110K + stock options
