Description:

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of down stream processing equipment and processes in the Protein Production Laboratory (PPL) producing high quality Phase I, II, and III clinical grade materials in a cGMP environment.

Major Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:


Operate process equipment in accordance with SOP's to maintain cGMP compliance. Equipment includes intermediate scale chromatography columns, Ultra-filtration units, etc...

Author and revise operational documents.

Perform general maintenance on all process equipment to insure proper operation of equipment.

Identify and recommend corrective action for difficulties encountered.

Troubleshoot equipment issues and call on outside vendors, if necessary.

Understand the significance of in-process test results and their implication on the process.

Maintain appropriate inventories of laboratory related materials.

Assist in the start up and commissioning of the process equipment.

Assist in the validation of PPL equipment.

Based on skills and experience may train personnel in Down Stream Processing department.
Minimum Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in science or engineering related field with 2-5 years down stream processing experience.

Associate's Degree in science or engineering related field with 4-6 years down stream processing experience.

Proficient in down stream processing techniques; aseptic technique is necessary.

Experience with packing, operation and maintenance of intermediate-scale chromatography skids and columns.

Possess a thorough knowledge of cGMP's.

Strong teamwork, communication, and decision making skills.

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to function in a rapidly changing environment and balance multiple priorities simultaneously
