Exciting opportunities are immediately available to join our Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Wallingford, CT. We are recruiting a Research Associate interested in joining a winning team who are dedicated to extending and enhancing human life while working to build the best clinical pharmacology program in the pharmaceutical industry.

Job Description/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work in a state of the art Solid State Chemistry and Crystallography laboratory equipped with instrumentation for XRAY diffractometry and physical characterization of pharmaceutical solids. As a member of a highly effective team that provides crystallography collaboration in support of drug discovery and preclinical compound optimization, the candidate will be primarily responsible for 1. Growing single crystals and assisting structure determination of discovery lead compounds and intermediates, 2. conducting experiments to study crystal properties using appropriate instruments such as PXRD, DSC, TGA,TG MS, hot stage microscopy, moisture balance, Karl Fisher titration, HeadspaceGC, 1HNMR, 3. Performing routine maintenance and calibration on instruments and providing timely communication and documentation of results. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop cross site interactions with process chemists and pharmaceutical scientists and participate in the final form selection including salt and polymorph screening of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION PREFERRED is BS or MS in chemistry or other relevant scientific disciplines. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED is 2 to 6 BS, 0 to 4 years MS.
The candidate should have a basic knowledge of structural chemistry and a strong desire to learn crystallography. A background in organic chemistry, engineering, or previous experience with single crystal analysis, such as crystallization, X-RAY diffraction data collection and processing, and structure solution and refinement, is preferred. A working knowledge of physical characterization techniques such as PXRD, thermal analysis, and microscopy for chemical and pharmaceutical bulk solids is a plus. Good organizational and written and verbal communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work on a team are essential.
