Job Description/Responsibilities:
Responsible for design and synthesis of compounds for testing central nervous system active agents. Candidate should be skilled in heterocyclic organic chemistry, particularly in the chemistry of pyrazines and pyrazinones. Responsible for maintaining an up to date laboratory notebook, and use literature and computer information systems to research, plan, and execute targeted synthetic reactions. Candidate will purify and characterize the products of these reactions using separations and spectroscopic techniques. Will write up and present experiment results on a regular basis.
Job Requirements:
Position requires M.S. in Medicinal, Organic Chemistry or B.Sc. in Medicinal, Organic Chemistry with a minimum 2 to 5 yrs of experience in Medicinal, Organic Chemistry. Must have knowledge of and experience in designing and executing modern preparative synthetic reactions on a milligram to multigram scale, experience in interpretation of analytical data such as NMR, MS, IR and Elemental Analysis, and experience in modern separation techniques, including thin layer, column, and HPLC chromatography knowledge of and experience in writing and presenting scientific communication materials also required.
