Summary: The Technical Training Specialist (TTS) investigates, develops, writes, and conducts programs to train Caliper employees and customers in operation, programming, servicing and troubleshooting of Caliper products. The TTS manages each assigned Caliper product as a project, and is responsible for all aspects of the training associated with that product. The TTS also provides training on software, products and soft skills necessary to support Caliper products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

?Confers with management and staff to perform assessments that determine training needs and objectives related to Caliper business goals
?Participates in cross-functional task teams requiring training representatives
?Participates in cross-functional training tasks including working with other Caliper departments as part of information transfer process.
?Writes training programs, including outline, text, handouts and tests, and designs laboratory exercises
?Schedules classes based on classroom and equipment availability
?Lectures classes on safety, installation, programming, operation, maintenance, and repair of Caliper products using outline, handouts and text as a guide.
?Demonstrates procedures being taught, such as programming and repair
?Observes trainees in laboratory and answers trainees?questions
?Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees?performance
?Participates in meetings, seminars and training sessions to obtain information necessary to training and transfers information into training materials and classes.
?Coordinates training for courses delivered at customer sites.
?Travels to customer site or other Caliper location (15%- 25% of time) to deliver training.
?Investigates and develops training media including video, CD-ROM and other multi-media options
?Provides one-on-one training/mentoring as required
?Confers with management to design and plan training development for Caliper employees
?Coordinates established training courses with technical and professional courses offered by community vendors and schools
?Participates in maintenance of administrative tasks including follow-up of course registrations, payment information, preparation of materials, ordering supplies and preparation and maintenance of training areas
?Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate training effectiveness
?Performs other tasks as necessary to maintain training functions at Caliper


Education and Experience: Four-year college or university program certification in Education, Training or Science; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing training programs for technical products. Experience in a laboratory environment with emphasis on chemistry or biochemistry methodology is desired. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in a programming language such as Basic, Visual Basic, EasyLab or equivalent is desired. Experience with Caliper products is also desired. Most importantly, this individual must have a great desire to train.
