The Scripps Research Institute is establishing a major science center in Palm Beach County, Florida, focusing on biomedical research, technology development and drug design. Funding for facilities and initial staffing is supported by the State of Florida via economic development funds as well as by the local county government.

Lerner, M.D., President of The Scripps Research Institute, "Based on our history and experience in La Jolla, the extension of Scripps' activities will increase the scope and depth of important research in biomedical science. The synergy between our faculty in California and Florida is expected to lead to significant new developments to improve human health."We are currently recruiting for an HTS Assay Implementation Scientist (Research Assistant I/II).
Duties & Responsibilities: Research focuses on High Throughput Screening. Automated HTS liquid handlers, detectors (plate readers) and robotics will be utilized on a daily basis to assist the development and miniaturization of microtiter-plate based assays to be implemented on a fully-automated screening system. Will operate and troubleshoot automated equipment and will utilize a variety of spreadsheet and data management software systems to generate, analyze, and report data from research efforts.
Requires: Bachelorî–¸ degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences or Engineering and a minimum of 2 years experience with development of biochemical, cell-based assays and mammalian cell culture. Must have previous experience with maintaining, calibrating and operating HTS robotic liquid handling (Platemate, MiniTrak, Biomek FX, Multiprobe) and detection equipment (FLIPR, Envision, Spectrfluor, Viewlux); Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
