Position at Applied Biosystems. Bedford, Mass


1. Serves as key contact for input and interpretation of issues which impact product sales, quality, cost, reliability and performance. Travels worldwide and participates in conferences, seminars and training programs and visits customers in their laboratories throughout the world. 2. Participates in or performs strategic planning and plan implementation for specific products for worldwide application. Includes planning and development of product introduction strategies for implementation with marketing personnel from the selling regions for worldwide application. 3. Develops understanding of, and analyzes competitive arena for, the technology and product. Completes competitor and market share analyses for specific product and/or technology to ensure accuracy and relevancy. 4. Generates technical literature for sales, customers and customer support. Assists in technical writing involving the product and/or technology to ensure accuracy and relevancy. 5. Serves as primary liaison between Research Products and selling region field groups (including customers) to provide up to date application, operation and trend information for a product and/or technology. 6. Attends scientific meetings. Prepares and delivers seminars and presentations relevant to the product and/or technology. Monitors opinion leaders and scientific literature to determine technology trends. 7. Assists on the analysis of market performance and makes recommendations to improve results. Assists in the preparation of forecasts for sales and manufacturing.

Requires knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree (Detection/B.A.) in a scientific discipline such as cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or equivalent. Completion of an advanced degree in Business or related Science is strongly recommended. Requires 4-7 years related experience in product management and strategic marketing. Experience in marketing imaging instrument systems, reagents and consumables is highly preferred and/or training, including two years of laboratory experience and two to four years of product marketing, sales or research with the technology or similar products; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An understanding of Applied Biosystems Cell Biology Cellular Detection System (CDS) used in hybridoma screening, chemokine assays, apoptosis and cytotoxicity analysis and bead-based assays along with the Tropix chemiluminescent reagents with applications in high throughput screening, Reporter Genes, cAMP measurement, Westerns, and Southerns. ?Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, or other related material. Ability to write presentations and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or the scientific community. Must be able to use a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheets and development of presentation materials. ?Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
