REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree in electronics or instrumentation field with five to eight years experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of laboratory instrumentation / automation.
Bachelors Degree in electrical or instrumentation engineering field with three to five years experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of laboratory instrumentation / automation.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with scientists and IT colleagues at all levels.
Customer focused and able to act on own initiative to deliver high levels of customer service.
Proven diagnostic and problem solving ability.
Experience with day-to-day support of hardware & software on multiple instrument platforms used within a scientific laboratory environment.
Ability to install, configure, and upgrade software, primarily. Windows environment, as required in support of equipment maintenance and reliability.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced, diverse, and professional environment. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
DETAILS:
Provide technical support for automation hardware used within the UP Automation Facility and Discovery Research organization.
Ensure an excellent working relationship with the customer base and external support vendors.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the business needs and technical / maintenance issues for automation.
Liaise with colleagues at other sites.
Provide the interface between automation vendors.
Effectively report project status, issues, conflicts etc. to management and other team members.
Provide technical support for automated liquid handling and vial processing hardware.
Repair, troubleshoot and maintain individual instruments and complex laboratory systems.
Respond to customer needs/requirements ensuring alignment globally of automation support strategies for customers.
Partner with customers to address issues and perform repairs in a timely fashion.
Identify improperly functioning laboratory instrumentation and use diagnostic & problem solving skills to determine an effective solution.
Participate as appropriate, to define and monitor all aspects of the instrument & process lifecycle (e.g. definition, bug/enhancement reporting, testing, deployment, maintenance, spare parts management, and training & documentation).
Analyze, report, and provide workarounds or improvements in existing applications and processes in order to maximize system / process ptime?
Liaise with colleagues and other internal / external automation resources at GSK sites to ensure consistent application of global methods and tools.
Assist customers in establishing data communication from workstations to server using appropriate communication protocols.
Install, configure, diagnose, and repair instrumentation and their associated computers.
Participate as appropriate, to define and improve all aspects of the LIS business processes.
