This individual performs high throughput analysis of crude bio-samples, mostly from drug metabolism studies, across multiple drug discovery projects; and works closely with drug metabolism group to evaluate new chemical entities, from lead optimization to selection of candidates, for development as therapeutic agents. Specific responsibilities include employing LC/MS/MS or LC/MS methods for quantitative analysis of xenobiotics and metabolites; developing and improving bioanalytical methods to maximize instrument use and streamline results reporting, and maintaining detailed documentation. May also be involved in conducting analyses on samples generated from pharmacokinetic and toxicological studies as needed.
Requires a BS/MS in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; hands-on experience with HPLC, LC/MS/MS method development, sample preparation and analysis. Experience with LC/MS control and quantification computer software, mass spectrometers, AB/Sciex, Thermo Finnigan or Micromass systems is essential. Good communication skills and the ability to learn new technologies as part of a multi-disciplinary team are a must.
