This position has been cancelled.Operon Biotechnologies, Inc., a global supplier of synthetic DNA and RNA, is relocating its North American Manufacturing, Customer Operations, Global Marketing and Corporate Management functions to Huntsville, AL. We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager reporting to VP Global Operations.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Managing maintenance of Operonî–¸ equipment which includes regular lab equipment such as vacuum pumps, centrifuges and UV spectrometer, liquid handling automation such as Hamilton, Beckman, Zymark, Qiagen & misc. and different types of either in house developed and commercially available oligo synthesizer such as ABI, BLP, Tower-, and HTS systems.
- Works closely with vendors for renewing service contracts and pricing on replacement parts.
- Reviews existing and establishes new procedures on routine work
- Identify and execute projects geared towards improving quality, reducing costs and improving capacity in production
- Works closely with other departments within Operon, mainly Production, Quality Control, IT and Process development.
- Applies management skills to create and maintain a High Performance Team including hiring, training, auditing, goal setting and performance evaluation.
- Ensures team compliance with all Operon Safety and Regulatory policies
- Successfully completes on- and off- site training (technical and management) and leadership programs in a timely manner and maintains requisite level of certification to comply with established Quality System standards.
- Establishes, implements and maintains the quality system including quality policy, procedures and planning the organizational structure to support the quality system.
Position requirements, qualifications and experiences:
- MS or BS in hard science or equivalent background and 4-6 years of relevant experience, preferably in an ISO-9000 or cGMP fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Substantial knowledge in maintaining general laboratory equipment
- Strong PC computer skills utilizing MS Word, Excel, and LIMS databases is required
- Previous position related experience in a DNA/RNA Oligonucleotide company is a plus
- Experience with start-up of manufacturing sites is a plus
- Proven ability to perform under pressure of a high through-put manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated outstanding problem solving ability within time and cost constraints
- Strong follow-up skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- experienced in handling chemicals is a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
