POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Application Specialist is responsible for Nucleic Acid application support and development including automated protocols. This is achieved through working at customer sights as well as internal R&D; group The objective of the Field Application Specialist is to generate revenue through application support and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Field Application Specialist is responsible for application support of a certain product segment. As such, a major responsibility is the development of automated protocols as well as application support.
?Identify and develop automated protocols for various existing automation such as Tecan, Beckman, QIAGEN, Caliper t
?Strive to ensure protocol development/adaptations are optimized for performance.
?Since a majority of time(75%) will be spent at customer sights, he/she must promote a high level of customer support.
?Appraise application/product conditions for continued growth and potential and direct corrective or developmental action where needed.
?Team sell with appropriate members of the sales force as appropriate.
?Inform SDM and account managers of plans and programs, assign specific action and follow through to insure satisfactory completion.
- Develop a working knowledge of current and potential activities in the territory on such items as, competitors, and user requirements.
?Communicate with SDM and regional and account managers on activities when appropriate.
?Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts. This includes technical and feasibility meetings.
?Identify major accounts and high potential accounts in order to assist the sales team in the development and penetration of these accounts.
- Participate and attend sales and marketing meetings when appropriate
Suggests protocol adaptations necessary to facilitate an increased revenue stream such as hardware modifications as well software.
Manage the process of developing hardware/software items with outside vendors necessary to facilitate functional automated protocols.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record as a field application specialist.
- Minimum 4+ years automated field application support experience.
- Working knowledge of automation with excellent programming ability.
- Proven experience of various scientific techniques such as PCR,RNA,DNA manipulation, protein expression, tissue cell culture and alike.
- Minimum education: Bachelor of Science or equivalent- PHD preferred
- Proven track record in biotech or related industry-
- Knowledge of relevant markets (i.e. academic, biotech, pharmaceuticals) molecular biological topics and products
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills at all business levels
- Willingness to travel up to 75%.
