SGX is a San Diego biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapeutics. We have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Specialist.

The Automation Specialist responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
o-develop methods on various robotic platforms including Tecan, Zymark/Caliper, Beckman, Qiagen, Robbins and Genetix. Validate new and existing methods
rovide feedback on how to utilize robotics effectively as well as work with various departments to address automation needs (including chemistry, biochemistry, crystallization, and molecular biology)
roubleshoot and diagnose all types of laboratory equipment malfunctions, coordinate or perform repairs, perform preventative maintenance, conduct user training and coordinate technical support

The ideal candidate must have a B.S. in Life Sciences (or closely related discipline), or have a BSME or BSEE with some Life Sciences background. We require 3+ years experience in programming laboratory automation with 1+ years wet lab experience. Must have a good ability to program and validate liquid handling automation. Must possess excellent understanding of wet bench work in any of the following areas: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Crystallization. The candidate must exhibit the ability to solve problems and work independently, while contributing to a project team environment. Excellent time management/organizational skills are must. Good interpersonal skills and communication skills are essential.
