SUMMARY
Performs on-site installation, preventive maintenance, repair and sales and simple emanation of upgrades for a wide range of robotic laboratory automation systems and workstations. Person must be located in Puerto Rico.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Delights the customer during all phases of work to provide superior customer
satisfaction, thereby becoming our customer's partner of choice for laboratory automation solutions.

2. Applies knowledge of electronics, motion control, computers, chemistry, and Caliper products to the installation, preventive maintenance and repair of Caliper products.

3. Performs equipment installations and introduces the customer to basic features and functions.

4. Performs preventive maintenance service in a timely manner to meet service contract obligations.

5. Evaluates customer complaints, performs problem diagnosis, determines, performs and verifies the repair.

6. Documents the service performed via electronic and hardcopy report.

7. Ensures customer satisfaction by demonstrating proper equipment operation and reviewing the hardcopy service report with the customer after equipment servicing.

8. Strives to complete thorough and high quality work, always leaving the equipment in better condition than found.

9. Resolves conflicts and customer dissatisfaction.

10. Prepares timely, complete and accurate expense and service reports.

11. Manages travel and communication expenses at or below budget.

12. Conveys a positive and enthusiastic attitude about Caliper and its people.

13. Maintains a high degree of professionalism in manner and dress and operated with high integrity.

14. Manages prioritizes and schedules all work to be performed to satisfy internal and external customer demands.

15. Updates internal and external customers on the schedule for, and the status of, their service activities.

16. Communicates strategic customer and competitive information, and sales leads, to the appropriate Sales Account Manager.

17. Participates in development of account plans with the appropriate Sales Account Manager.

18. Provides awareness of critical customer and service issues, with recommended solutions, to Field Engineering Management and the appropriate Sales Account Manager.

19. Takes responsibility for their personal safety, including questioning the customer about any potentially hazardous samples or solvents present in the laboratory, and any special precautions that they or the customer should take to minimize exposure.

20. Sells and delivers Field Service Engineering time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
May direct the activities of a Field Service Engineer in Training on a limited project or daily basis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Position requires a minimum of an Associates degree from a 2-year college or technical school, or equivalent military experience and training, Bachelors degree preferred. The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 4 years directly related field service experience, coupled with strong troubleshooting and analysis skills of electronic and or mechanical equipment. Must possess strong communication/customer skills, computer skills and be a team player. Must be available for overnight travel by car and air up to 15% of the time and available for scheduled training outside the home territory. May be asked to provide occasional cross coverage outside the home territory including worldwide travel.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid driver's license and be able to rent a car.
