SUMMARY
In support of the sales team, conduct customer demonstrations for the full range of Caliper products. In support of the marketing team, generate analytical data for use in marketing material, technical briefs, etc. In support of our customer base, and working with our customer support team, provide application assistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is a listing of the results/accomplishments expected in performing this job and the job's essential or most important functions and responsibilities by which people achieve the results.

1. Leads customer demonstrations on all Caliper products for all market segments.

2. Works closely with the sales team to effectively schedule customer demonstrations

3. Works closely with the marketing team to effectively define and schedule application related projects in support of the marketing plan

4. Work closely with internal R & D groups to provide applications support for new products

5. Designs and executes experiments in support of the marketing plan

6. Documents all experiments and analytical results consistent with good laboratory practices

7. Works closely with the customer support team to provide application support to our customer base

8. Occasional travel required (10-20%)

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Requires strong analytical skills, including instrumental methods of analysis, strong problem solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, understanding of GLPs and cGMPs. Possess the ability to work independently and strong working knowledge of Caliper entire product line.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in biology, chemistry or the life sciences from a four year college or university; and a minimum of 5 years industry experience. Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Must possess strong critical thinking skills to design and execute experiments and trouble shoot customer applications. Problem solving skills are critical for the success of the application scientist.
