Research Automation Specialist

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the general operation of various forms of lab robotics especially in terms of software manipulation, troubleshooting and data analysis. Candidate will perform assays following standard assays protocols, make detailed observations, analyze data, compile and prepare results for review. Will also participate in laboratory support functions including equipment maintenance, reagent preparation and record maintenance. Should have good interpersonal skills and be able to work well on a dynamic team. The chosen person will be expected to maintain, track
and advance knowledge on emerging and new automation technologies including the identification of state-of-the-art technologies and make recommendations for their use within the Department.


Requirements:
The chosen candidate must be mechanically inclined and/or have an engineering background as well as a BS in biology or a life science. Any experience using the Genetic Q-bot, Beckman-Coulter Biomek FX core systems, Cellomics ArrayScan, Qiagen Biorobot or Perkin-Elmer TopCount NXT is highly desirable. Familiarities with the concepts and techniques involved in general cell culture, transfection, transformation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, high throughput screening as well as DNA sequencing and analysis are also
needed.
