The Applications Technician is a key player in this mix, turning a machine into a solution for the customer, providing valuable insight into product design, and serving as the feedback loop between customers and designers.The main responsibilities of the role will be focused on our BioCel integrated automation platform. The BioCel is the cornerstone of our product-line and is used in many life science laboratories around the globe. The Applications Technician plays a number of roles during the sales, build and installation process, these include:
o Analyze potential customer's protocols and produce automation configurations to address their application effectively
o Work with customer at pre-sale stage to prove specifications on Velocity11 machines
o Produce test specifications to test system functionality based on customers requirements
o Lead testing on the completed system both at the Velocity11 site (Factory Acceptance Test) and after installation at the customer site (Site Acceptance Test)
o Provide applications support to systems in operation; trouble shooting, protocol writing, training, etc.
o Provide feedback to product managers regarding potential product improvements or additions
In addition to playing a vital role in the success of the BioCel platform there will also be the opportunity to support our sales and marketing teams by the generation of experimental data using Velocity11 equipment. This will form the basis of application notes, data sheets and other marketing material.
The following qualifications and experience are desirable
o Bachelor or Master degree in a Life Science (or lab and industry experience with an engineering degree)
o 1-5 years of current experience in Life Science research automation, laboratory methods, terminology, and applications
o Knowledge of genomics and drug discovery industries
o Mechanical aptitude
o Excellent English communications skillsritten and verbal
o Passion for customer satisfaction
o Flexibility in work hours
o High energy level
o Love of new challenges and problem solving
o Ability to keep composure and sense of humor in difficult situations
o Self-motivated, and willing to work in a team-oriented environment
o Willingness to travel for work (up to 25% of the time)
