Applications Engineer (IHouston, TX)
We are looking for a software engineer to create new components and applications and to customize Symyx Renaissance ?software.
The Applications Engineer will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams including chemists, engineers and software developers implementing multi-instrument workflows in materials research programs. Team members have an in-depth knowledge of Symyx software and the process of materials research in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The successful candidate will work with scientists to develop a thorough understanding of the requirements for analysis, querying, viewing, and reporting of research data. That understanding will guide the development of the software customizations.
Qualifications include a BS, MS or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a physical science, with 5 years of experience working in chemical or pharmaceutical research industry. A minimum of 5 years programming experience developing applications in a multi-tier environment using Windows as a client with an Oracle backend is required. Fluency in VB, VB.Net, Java or C++ is required. Microsoft .Net certification and experience with C# are a plus. Web development, XML, and database programming experience are a plus.
Experience in undertaking challenging assignments with minimum supervision and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
This position is based in Iselin, NJ. The candidate must be available for travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 50% of the time. Salary is commensurate with experience. Senior level candidates are encourage to apply.
