Assay Development Engineer

Are you interested in working on an exciting, cutting

Assay Development? Then come join Genomic Health as an
Assay Development Engineer working in Process
Development and play a part in building an innovative
new approach to disease diagnosis and treatment.

The successful candidate will be capable of
developing, implementing and maintaining process
methods and equipment for GHI clinical laboratory.
Emphasis will be placed on automated technologies to
achieve cost effectiveness and efficiency with
improved product quality and workflow. The successful
candidate will be responsible for planning and
implementing new processes, improving current
processes, establishing equipment specifications, and
new equipment acquisition and installation.

The position requires hands-on experience with a range
of laboratory techniques including nucleic acid
extraction, sample QC and quantitation,
fluorescence-based assays, and RT-PCR processes for
multiple gene expression analysis. Experience with
robotic liquid handling systems and the ABI 7900 Prism
sequence detection system is also required. Fluency
in the Tecan Gemini software is a plus. Candidates
must be experienced in optimizing all aspects of
applications on automated systems including software
development, process tracking, LIMS integration, and
process validation.

An ideal candidate will work cooperatively in a busy
laboratory environment, responding to change with
flexibility and adapting quickly to evolving
circumstances. Candidates with a track record of
successfully transferring processes they have
developed into production environments will be given
preference. Experience and diligence in process SOP
documentation is essential. Ongoing support and
personnel training for transferred processes will be
necessary, requiring excellent interpersonal and
communication skills.
