SUMMARY
Responsibilities include researching, approaching new business targets, qualifying leads, generating appointments for Field Sales Account Managers, and contributing to the business forecast by building a qualified pipeline of prospects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

?By telephone, investigates leads from trade shows, marketing campaigns and industry research.

?Make cold calls to develop contacts in the customer site.

?Research prospects through publications, websites, leads from conversations with other prospects, and others.

?Ask questions to qualify leads for suitable activities, product, budgeted dollars available, and potential timing.

?Builds relationship with prospects. Supplies customer with information as needed through mailings or links to the website.

?Plans and coordinates visit from appropriate Field Sales Account Manager. Supports Field Sales Account Manager with detailed information on the customer, hands off customer for remaining sales process.

?Enters and updates all customer information and an accurate forecast potential into ONYX in a timely manner.

?Presents information to management to forecast sales potential for Production.

?Communicates issues, learning, customer testimonials and suggestions to management in group communication meetings.

?Successfully solicit attendance to trade shows, seminars, and hotel shows


QUALIFICATIONS
?Ability to work independently and to meet pre-established quarterly objectives and metrics.

?Ability to work as a team member, willing to tackle one phase of sales process and then pass off process to the Account Manager.

?Strong communication skills for reporting and interpreting findings.

?Ability to understand use, function and potential uses of workstation equipment and systems in a variety of research and production settings.

?Sales drive -- the ability to use persistence, tact, investigative interview skills, quick verbal response to unique lab situations, sales instincts while promoting Zymark products and qualifying the customer over the telephone.

?Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree in a science such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry or life sciences.
2-4 years sales experience selling capital equipment, preferably in the life sciences, or equivalent lab experience including the use of automated equipment. Knowledge of genomic and proteomic applications and market space desired.
