Title: Consulting Engineer Description:
Teranode is a venture backed startup that delivers design automation software for the life sciences. Our customer base is growing and we have recently shipped version 2 of our product. To contribute to our rapid growth, we seek an energetic, self-starter with a computer science background and pharmaceutical/life science industry experience to join our consulting services team in the Boston area.
Teranode's consulting services team works closely with our customers to develop highly integrated and highly automated solutions for complex experiment design, execution, and analysis problems. As a member of this team, you will interact with IT and scientific personnel as well as with customer management. Success requires strong interpersonal, communication, and software engineering skills. Because of your field experience, Teranode consulting engineers have a significant impact on future product plans and refinements and develop close relationships with our product developers.
Responsibilities:
Design and development customer solutions using our design automation platform
Testing custom development
Documenting custom-developed code, installation and end-user instructions
Managing the delivery of custom projects to Teranode clients
Business analysis & requirements gathering
Developing design specifications and cost estimates
Qualifications:
BS or MS in computer science
4+ years experience in software engineering, relational databases, internet technologies, and systems integration
Experience / desire to work in a technical environment with a client-facing focus
Proven record of teamwork, specifically in consulting engineering
Ability to travel
Skills:
Adept in client-facing situations
Excellent communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Thorough understanding of Java
Experience with bioinformatics, biology or chemistry
Experience integrating with laboratory equipment a plus
