Nucleic Acid Purification Scientist - Invitrogen

Must have hands on experience with high throughput robotic platforms (Beckman, Tecan, Qiagen). High throughput experience in Nucleic Acid Purification also desired.

Responsible for developing and launching new products by initiating, directing and executing scientific research and/or development strategies through the research staff or individual studies. Act as the technical lead on new product development teams.

Develop new products and technologies through the New Product Introduction process. Independently plan and execute laboratory research. Independently adapt or modify experimental methods to achieve technical objectives.
Critically analyze data and interpret results of experiments. Maintain complete and thorough documentation and ensure ISO compliant NPI documentation. May supervise staff. Provide guidance to Research Associates in their daily experiments and troubleshooting. Investigate, create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement. Act as the technical lead for a development project and interface with other departments (ie: Marketing, Business Development, Technical Service and/or Operations) to coordinate product development and improvement. Make contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Prepare technical reports, product summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. Perform fundamental literature and patent searches related to products under development. Recognize opportunities for in-licensing and internal patent development. Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature, competitor products and attending scientific seminars and meetings. Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Ph.D degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience is required.

Demonstrated competence in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures for manufacturing reagents, systems, products or technologies. Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently required. Proven ability to lead and provide work direction required.
