Recruitment for Research Associates

The NIH Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC) is a new facility within the National Human Genome Research Institute that will use the tools of small molecule discovery to develop chemical probes for the study of protein and cell functions. The Center will perform automated high-throughput screening (HTS) on biological assays submitted by the biomedical research community and carry out chemistry optimization on confirmed hits to produce chemical probes.

We are seeking highly qualified research associates to join the Biomolecular Screening Division to implement all aspects of the assay development and screening. The NCGC will be a unique and exciting environment employing technologies on the cutting edge of small molecule screening and chemical genomics.

Candidates will perform the following duties:
?Perform assay optimization, automated HTS, hit profiling assays, and focused screens
?Maintain and manipulate mammalian cell lines.
?Operate automated systems, prepare assay reagents, and execute cell and protein-based assays
?Use molecular and cell biology techniques to implement and optimize assays
?Interact with chemists and informatics scientists to aid molecular probe development
?Contribute to the writing and publishing of scientific manuscripts.

Requirements
?BS in Biology or Chemistry
?Pharmaceutical/biotech experience in robotics, HTS, or small molecule libraries
?Highly motivated and able to thrive in an interactive, fast-paced environment
?Meticulous lab technique and recording, excellent computer skills
?Effective oral and written communication skills

Interested applicants should send curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation through our on-line application system at http://www.nhgri.nih.gov/apply. Applicants who cannot submit their materials electronically should submit their applications to:

NCGC
50 South Drive, Room 5345
