Research Manager, Analytical Biochemistry ?Immunoassay Methods Development # 1026

We are seeking a PhD level scientist to manage an Immunoassay/Electrophoresis Methods Development group of 6 scientists ranging from BS to PhD. Our client company is a progressive biopharmaceutical company with both large and small molecular weight products in the marketplace and a strong product pipeline. The candidate will assume a leadership role in this department and will report to the Director.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others):
? Responsible for managing 6 scientists (BS, MS, and Ph.D.) within the combined Immunoassay/Electrophoresis group.
? Development and validation of Immunoassays for characterization of protein based pharmaceuticals.
? Responsible for evaluation and incorporation of cutting-edge technologies in the arena of immunoassay methods.

Requirements/Qualifications:
? Education: Ph.D., or equivalent, in biochemistry or analytical biochemistry
? Prior Experience: Three to five years of post-graduate (preferably industrial) experience in method development for the characterization of protein biopharmaceuticals, with emphasis in the immunoassay and especially the electrophoresis methods areas.

? Experience with other Immunoassay methods such as ELISA, cell-based assays, Surface Plasmon Resonance and with lab automation, especially with the TECAN robotic platform is a plus.
? As the candidate will supervise at least 6 scientists, strong scientific management skills are absolutely essential, and an action-oriented person is desired.
? The candidate should have an excellent command of the current scientific literature, and be able to apply this knowledge to solve current development challenges.
? The person should be self-motivated, and have excellent organizational and project management skills.
? The person would be expected to collaborate on multiple projects both within and outside of development, and to participate in group and development team meetings, as well as higher-level planning.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, and the ability to work within a GMP-compliant group is required.
