MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Engineer
Lead technology feasibility studies to assess application to engineering problems.
Lead/participate in Requirements Gathering and Project Scope Definition
Develop Conceptual Automation System Designs
Work with Finance to provide Automation Justification Analysis (i.e. payback, ROI, risk reduction, etc.)
Work with Systems Integration Engineers to leave useful and applicable artifacts for SW Developers and Engineers. These would include specifications documents and proposal(s) addressing business requirements that also provide clear and globally understood objectives.
Lead Project meetings for a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists
Lead Engineering Design Reviews and Data/Validation Test ReviewsoMake staffing recommendations, as necessary.
SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES / KNOWLEDGE
Strong leadership skills especially consensus building oStrong project management experience (planning and scheduling).
Vendor/Contractor relationship managementoAble to quickly and effectively research existing information.
Able to conceptualize, architect, design, and fabricate custom laboratory automation solutions.
Technically strong but not necessarily an expert (should be able to interact with many disciplines, should know who to talk to and when).
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND BS ME, EE, Chem E with 5 years experience in Laboratory or Industrial Automation Development
Comfortable working with both hardware and software in a production environment Integrating heterogenous systems with a strong focus on hardware selection design and fabricationo. 5 years of Mechanical / Electrical CAD experience (ProE, Solidworks, ORCAD).
Some experience with information systems ideally from a factory floor perspective. Preferably have an understanding of the data-centric world so this person can interact effectively with the SAP/Oracle types.
Familiarity with IQOQPQ practicesoFamiliarity with Molecular Biology concepts is a plus.
