Basirah Scientist /Assoc Scientist, Analytical Biochemistry - Automation of Analytical Biochem Assays, #1029

We are seeking a bench scientist who has expertise in the automation of assays, such as ELISA, multi-plex (luminex) based assays, cell based bioassays. This person will report to the Manager of Assay Development/Analytical Biochemistry for one of our client pharmaceutical companies; s/he will assume a leadership role in establishing a lab automation group within the Immunoassay area of the Analytical Biochemistry Department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others):
? The person should possess significant experience in adapting existing manual assays to an automated format, with special emphasis on enzymatic, ELISA, Luminex, and cell based bioassay formats.
? Familiarity with all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the TECAN Genesis 150 platform, TECAN Ultra reader and Magellan software, as well as Gemini liquid handling and FACTS scheduling software is required.
? The candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of the current state-of-the-art in lab assay automation, and be able to apply this knowledge to solve current automation challenges and to suggest future automation direction.
? The person must be self-motivated, and have excellent organizational and project management skills. The person would be expected to collaborate on multiple projects both within and outside of development, and to participate in team meetings as required.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, and the ability to work within a GMP-compliant group is required. As the candidate will potentially supervise a direct report, previous supervisory experience is a plus.


Requirements/Qualifications:
Education: Masters with 6+ years, BS with 10+ years, in Biochemistry or a related field. PhD would be considered w/ appropriate experience.
Prior Experience:
? A minimum of six years (Master) or ten years (BS) of post-graduate experience in method development/adaptation on automated systems is required, preferably in an biotech/pharmaceutical industrial setting.
? Experience with the TECAN Genesis platform, Gemini liquid handling and FACTS software packages is required.
? Significant expertise in lab automation method development and adaptation, especially with the TECAN robotic platform is required. Experience with other automation systems is a definite plus.
