Field Project Manager, Automated SolutionsBeckman Coulter Inc., a $2 billion biomedical instrumentation systems corporation, has an excellent opportunity for a Field Project Manager in our Bioresearch Automated Solutions Product Line. The field Project Management group is an extension of the sales force, and is charged with supporting the sales representatives in the technical sale of laboratory automation products, as well as working with customers to ensure successful startups of larger automated systems. This dynamic position will primarily support Boston/Cambridge, Connecticut, and other areas of the northeast U.S.. The position involves travel.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Assist sales representatives during the sales process: Provide sales with technical information regarding Beckman Coulter products. Participate in sales calls to ensure understanding of client application needs. Work with sales reps and prospective clients to develop proof-of-principal methods. Interact with Integrated Solutions and development centers to ensure proper product fit for each system. Use scientific background to bring value to the sales process.
2. For major automated systems, oversee installation process. Communicate site requirements to customer. Maintain documentation regarding pre-installation process to promote a smooth customer startup. Coordinate installation process with Service team. Provide on-site post-installation training to clients, and provide appropriate follow-up to ensure continued satisfaction.
3. Attain expert-level competency with Beckman Coulter Solutions, as they apply to customer applications, serving as an internal resource and top-level troubleshooting resource. Apply this by assisting Sales and Marketing as needed. Serve as a source of feedback to development centers to aid proper product development.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, a strong history of good time management, and the desire to be a self-starter, working as part of a nationwide team. Ability to work independently is a must. Strong computer skills (Windows NT/XP), including the ability to rapidly learn new software packages, are a requirement for this position.
The successful applicant will have a laboratory background (B.A. or B.S. plus Masters in a biological science or at least 3 years of relevant experience) and should be familiar with: general laboratory practices, assay processes such as ELISA and/or cell-based assays, and molecular biology applications such as PCR, and DNA sequencing.
