Summary:

The position requires a person who has demonstrated project experience with Object Oriented technology and who wishes to make automation solutions using software as a key element in controlling complex electromechanical systems.

Duties Include:
?Development of software for new products, and new features and bug fixes for existing product software:
?Leading software efforts in a multi-disciplinary team environment, researches, defines and analyzes software requirements to determine feasiability of design within time and cost constraints
?Designs and implements software consistent with the development process and contemporary software techniques.
?Performs debugging and unit testing of new features and subsystems
?Assisting in integration, system test, beta and product introduction phases
?Participates in specification, design, code, and test reviews within and across projects
?Producing various documentation for features and enhancements including requirements analysis, design, detailed design documents, unit test plans, and release notes consistent with the Caliper Life Sciences Software Development Process.
?Following and contributing to the improvement of the software development process

Essential skills/experience are:
?BS (EE, CS, ME), 8-15 years relevant software engineering experience
?Demonstrated project experience with Object Oriented Technology paradigm. This includes including OO Requirements analysis, OO and design, use of programming languages such as C++ or Java, and component oriented architectures such as CORBA or, COM/DCOM.
?Experience with NT, VC++, COM and Object Based programming in Visual Basic
?Development experience using Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT, Windows 98/NT, C++ and Visual Basic
?Demonstrated experience in planning and executing software intensive projects in multi-discipline teams
?Relevant experience in developing software for electromechanical equipment.
?Demonstrated team player
?Experience with integrated development environments including configuration management, requirements tracing, defect tracking
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to mentor junior team engineers

Desirable skills/experience are:
?Experience with UML, .Net, C#, Visual Studio, Visual Basic, VC++, SourceSafe, SQL Server
?Experience with real time and embedded systems
?Experience with OO and Relational Data Base technology
?Experience in the Laboratory Automation Equipment industry
