Bachelor's degree in biology/microbiology or biochemistry with 0-3 years experience or extensive experience at the technical level is a prerequisite. Preferably at least one years experience. Experience with PCR, nucleic acid purification, protein purification and microbiology preferred. The current work involves PCR forensics for building protection, additional work will entail drug screening of anti-microbials for bio-threat agents and emerging infectious diseases. The Research Associate has knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field of specialization and uses established procedures to perform assigned technical work under the direction of more senior research staff. Is responsible for specific portions of projects as assigned and develops solutions to problems of limited scope. Applies basic concepts to structured situations. Develops working relationships with peers, technicians and management
