khristine Flow Cytometry (2 positions)

I am assisting to recruit for two full-time positions: Facility Manager, and Research Technician, specializing in the field of Flow Cytometry, for a client in Ottawa.

The client is a high profile, well-funded startup whose goal is to manage large-scale scientific research and technology projects for Eastern Ontario. Their mandate is to develop a world-class infrastructure for genomics. Their projects are challenging and cutting-edge, and will extend the boundaries of biological knowledge.

Their first major initiative is a stem cell genomics project: Expression profiling will be performed on mouse, human and rat adult and embryonic stem cells employing novel purification techniques, and microarray, SAGE, proteomics and data analyses. The goal of the project is to identify the genes that regulate stem cell function and control lineage commitment.

The Facility Manager will be responsible for cell sorting with the Cytomation MoFlo, lead a team of Technicians, and interact with an internal and external client base consisting of Scientists, Technicians, Postdoctoral Fellows and students. This opportunity has considerable range, from working hands-on with the technology, to extending the scope of responsibility, creating a cross-organizational business model for the provision of flow cytometry services ?potentially outside the company.

The Research Technician, supervised by the Facility Manager, will work independently and coordinate experiments with Scientists, Technicians, Postdoctoral Fellows and students. Working hands-on with the Cytomation MoFlo, the Research Technician will be able to use a variety of techniques, participate in novel investigation methods and potentially be involved in publications.

For both positions, significant work with flow cytometry equipment is required. Good knowledge of multicolor analysis, immunology and cell biology assays would be an asset. Educational background preferred is a Ph.D. or Master degree in life sciences for the Facility Manager, and B.Sc. or Certification in life sciences for the Research Technician. Equivalent experience will be taken into consideration.

Salaries will be commensurate with depth of experience and education. This client has said they offer competitive compensation combined with a stimulating and energetic academic environment. They are seeking growth-oriented individual who enjoy working in a fast-paced learning organization, if that described you - you should strongly consider this opportunity.

Applicants should send their CV, cover letter, and three references to [email protected]. It is important to use the position title as the subject of your email to enable your resume to reach the appropriate recruiter as quickly as possible. If you aren't interested or feel you are not qualified, do you know anyone who would be interested? We do offer generous referral fees.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!
