The cell biologist involved in this project will be responsible for characterizing the time-/concentration-dependent and mechanistic effects of bacterial metalloproteases on target cells including macrophages and neuronal cells. Once these assays are established, the effects of lead compounds will be studied in depth.

In addition to standard cell culture procedures, the use of flow cytometry and similar instruments will be needed. A Ph.D. or equivalent in immunology or cell biology is required.
