Applications Engineer (NJ)
We are looking for an Applications Programmer to create new software components and programs and to customize Symyx Renaissance ?software. Team members have an in-depth knowledge of Symyx software and the process of materials research and work as part of multi-disciplinary teams including chemists, physicists, and engineers implementing multi-instrument workflows in materials research programs.
The successful candidate will work with scientists to develop a thorough understanding of the requirements for analysis, querying, viewing, and reporting of research data.
Qualifications include a BS, MS or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a physical science,with 5 years of experience working in chemical or pharmaceutical research industry and a minimum of 5 years programming experience with Visual Basic/Visual Basic for Applications, Java and/or C++. Web development, XML, and database programming experience is a plus. Experience in undertaking challenging assignments with minimum supervision and excellent analytical skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
Although the position is based in New Jersey, the candidate must also be available for travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 50% of the time.
