This position is required to help the Screening & Compound Logistics Center (SCLC) support compound management and screening. This position will have responsibilities for the following types of activities which are critical to the efficient functioning in our laboratory and to support our global responsibilities as a COE. The SCLC requires expertise in the evaluation and adaptation of instrumentation for use in automated sample preparation and screening as well as a mastery of the skill sets used in automated liquid handling in the nano and microliter ranges. Additional responsibilities will be the development, validation and support of new technologies, as they would apply to maintaining and advancing the process excellence of the team. The incumbent will be able to carry out individual research projects with minimal supervision. In addition to being proficient in the application of problem solving skills to a wide range of automated sample handling processes, the qualified scientist must also have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of scientists to complete method development, validation, and rollout at both a local and global level.

MS in Chemistry, Biology or related field AND minimum of 5 years experience in laboratory automation. 5-6 post M.S. or equivalent. 5% travel both domestic and international. Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in both laboratory automation AND chemistry or biology related to drug discovery. Strong communication, project management, and problem solving skills are required. The candidates must have expertise in robotics hardware validation and automated liquid handling. Experience in high throughput screening and compound management in a discovery environment is necessary. Validation of liquid handling robots; integration of liquid handler to underlying databases and applications; development of next phase of nanoliter liquid handling system. Evaluation and redesign of compound solubilization process.
