Customized pH Station
Object:
- Measure pH of small volumes (? 無) within the tubes and calibrate the pH meter prior to measurements. Calibration and pH data needs to be stored in a convenient table.
Solution:
- A Zymark homogenizer PySection was converted to a pH station. The homogenizer was removed and replaced with a glass micro electrode capable of measuring the pH of a 5 無 solution.
- An Orion 520A pH meter was used for this station because it supports two way communication through a generic RS-232 Zymark module card. This feature allows the robotic system to have control of the pH meter for standardization and data collection.
- The standardization routine is performed between sample sets using pH buffers to cover the 0 – 12 pH range.
- After the data is collected the pneumatic shuttle moves up to the probe to wash with water and blow dry with air.
