An automated system has been devised to determine the pH-solubility profiles of new chemical entities (NCEs). The robotic system can provide the dissolution profile and pH values for minute amounts of drug substance in less than 1.0 mL of solvent. The importance of the system is to develop a process in which the critical properties (i.e., physicochemical, chemical synthesis and processing, formulation processing, pharmacokinetics, etc.,) of a limited amount of a chemical salt could be determined and quantified. Using an automated system such as this, pH solubility information for new development candidates can be obtained in a short period of time when sample is limited.
